Welcome one and all to yet another year of spectral support for worthy causes! This year marks ten years of Halloweeniefest, a major milestone that could not have been reached without the support of this amazing community! Thank you all!
Parenting a toddler has brought joy I could never have imagined, as well as new extremes of tiredness I have hitherto unexplored! So, in the spirit of mindful self-care in this bleak world, Halloweeniefest 2025 will take place from October 3 - 26.

INTRO
Genocide has been ongoing in Gaza for two years now. There are no words to express the horror and carnage of it. With everything in the world coming apart at the seams, the end of the American century could not come quick enough. But in the meantime, what can we do from our positions of relative comfort and safety? We can help.
Now that I’m a parent, I am newly aware in so many profound ways how important it is to keep showing up. To show that we have a duty to care for one other. To act in ways that show, in the words of the immortal Gwendolyn Brooks:
that we are each other’s
harvest:
we are each other’s
business:
we are each other’s
magnitude and bond.
I think of that a lot. The immense responsibility of being in community and throwing my weight behind the collective struggle towards liberation while trying to balance the scales of my own ever-changing life. I also think of Mr. Rogers, who almost 40 years ago taught me to “look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
Let us be helpers. Let us be each other’s magnitude and bond. We are more than the systems under which we struggle to be free.
THE PLAN
This year, all donations will again be going to Refaat Alareer Camp operated by The Sameer Project, and Palestinian Youth Movement Houston.
REFAAT ALAREER CAMP

The Sameer Project, a grassroots aid organization led by four Palestinians in the diaspora, is proud to announce our first tent encampment project that provides shelter and specialized support to displaced families in Central Gaza. This first encampment will serve some of the most vulnerable families: highrisk perinatal and neonatal females, children with physical or mental disabilities, adults with special needs and mobility issues, war injuries and chronic diseases. With this narrowed criteria, we will be able to serve the most critical population with tailored services and facilities, to enhance their health, safety of gestation and delivery for babies and new mothers, prevent complications and further injury of wounds, as well as care for the children and adults that need special attention. In addition, this takes a burden off the over-stressed hospital system as we also take referrals from medical NGOs to accomaodate the most urgent cases as they await medical evacuations out of Gaza by the World Health Organization.
PALESTINIAN YOUTH MOVEMENT

We are a transnational grassroots movement of Palestinian and Arab youth struggling for the liberation of our people and homeland.
By cultivating the skills of the youth, we work towards empowering the Palestinian grassroots movement locally and ultimately around the world through political education workshops, direct actions, cultural events, and coalition building.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The need this year is urgent, and growing every day. Suggested donation is a minimum of $20. I encourage everyone to dig deep and surpass that!!
If you are requesting multiple individuals/a whole family, the donation minimum is $10 PER GHOST, REQUIRED. These projects need money. Let’s get it to them.
Ghosts are limited to ONE CUSTOM DETAIL per person/pet. Please send CLEAR PHOTOS of you and any other people/pets you would like ghost portraits of!
